| ultegra right shifter | lsalins Jun 25, 2003 10:42 AM | | My 2000 vintage ultegra right shifter crapped out a month ago. I ordered a low price deal on an ultegra right shifter from icyles ($60). Yesterday the shifting with the small lever got more and more difficult. I pushed a little harder and the lever swung past its usual limit. I went to my LBS and the wrench said the spring is toast. The levers no longer shift independently. He said I should order a 2002 or later set of shifters because this is a known problem with the earlier shifters. He said the icycles shifter was old stock. "Get what you pay for, live and learn," etcÉ |
| Doesn't matter. Shimano covers Ultegra for two years. | MR_GRUMPY Jun 25, 2003 11:38 AM | | As long as you have a receipt, you're covered. Your LBS may not like it, but they could take care of defective part. If they decide not to, it's time to find a new shop.
To make it worth their time, you could offer to buy some new tires from them, just to keep up the good will. |
| Or buy new shifter with money you save on tires | Dropped Jun 25, 2003 1:37 PM | | Or buy your tires on the internet and with the $$$ you save you can buy a new shifter.
Sorry to out-grumpy Mr. Grumpy, but I'm particularly down on the ol' LBS after figuring out that they tires they all want to charge me $48 for can be had for $24 at sdeals. |
