| Wheel repair | prchmnky41 Jun 24, 2003 5:45 PM | | I left my rear wheel on the floor & it somehow got stepped on. The hub, rim, & some of the spokes weren't damaged at all; only a few spokes were bent. About how much would a LBS charge for wheel repair if I brought the wheel & new spokes? |

Sometimes, if the wheel wasn't that great to begin with, you would save money by just getting a new machine built wheel.

| Depends. | Spoke Wrench Jun 25, 2003 8:09 AM | | The biggest difference has to do with whether or not the rim has been warped. I'd charge you around $20.00 or $25.00 labor assuming I judged the rim to be OK and you brought me the exact correct spare spokes. I think that's a pretty good deal because it will take me almost as much time as it would to build a complete new wheel from all new parts.
Otherwise, I'd charge you $1.00 per spoke labor plus parts for a complete wheel rebuild. If you don't have pretty good stuff, it'll usually be cheaper to buy a complete new factory built wheel of similar quality to what you have. |
