|Hi, I need some info on a BB swap.
I've got a nice old steel SLX frame that will be rebuild with an Ultergra 9sp gruppo. The old group is 7sp Campa.
When I removed the old Campy BB and wanted to fit in the Ultegra BB (new type with hollow axle) the Ultegra would not fit, cups just slided in and dit not get any hold on the threat. I think the problem is that the Campy BB is Italian threat (it says 36x24 on the cup) and the Utegra is BSA (says 1.37x24). Will an Ultegra or 105 BSA BB solve my problems? Anything else I need to keep in mind?

|Others will correct me if I am wrong, but all you need to do is purchase an Italian threaded Ultegra bottom bracket. The one you have is English threaded. They are available, but a little more difficult to find. English threading is 1.375 inch major thread diameter and Italian is about 1.417 inches (36mm).|

|Remember that when you go to install it, BOTH cups are right hand thread. Drive and non-drive side are both right hand thread. English has left hand thread on the drive side fixed cup... Italian in righty-tighty lefty-loosey on both. Don't forget and cross thread it. Also, get a torque wrench for the fixed cup because you are going to need to get it tighter than you think.

|If the bottom bracket shell had been the same diameter, you might have cross threaded in the right side of the bottom bracket and seriously damaged your frame.|| |
