Upgrading from Sora to 105 or Ultegrasuedehead

so, if i were to do this .. what parts do i NEED to buy, and what parts can stay?
also.. how inexpensively could i do this?

It depends on how far you want to go. You would need to replace everything if you want a full groupo.

Shifters,9 speed cassette and chain.That's minimum. You would probably want to get rid of the derailers, crankset and BB too.Then you wolud still have the possibly crappy rims and hubs that came on a sora equipped bike.Better HS would be an option. Then maybe a fork and new frame.

Sora is an eight speed group. Upgrading involves going to nine speeds. At an unofficial bare minimum, you would need to upgrade the rear shifter, the cassette, the chain, and the rear derailuer. Officially, you probably would need to upgrade the crank, the front derailuer, and the front shifter as well.

Upgrading from Sora is never easy because of the difference in speeds. You may consider staying with the Sora until it starts wearing out, then purchasing a 105 gruppo (not sure if Tiagra is worth the upgrade).

He does not need a rear derailer,crank, front derailer or the front shifter.Oficially or unofficially for that matter.
