|I have had a back wheel pinging for a few rides. Shop was going to service wheel this week, but this weekend I broke a spoke and wheel is now way out of true.
Thought I read that once these go out they are trouble. Anyone with similar problems with Ksyriums?

|I broke a rear drive side spoke on a 2001 Mavic Ksyrium SSC, a few weeks ago. I replaced the spoke and trued the wheel, basically all I had to do was bring the replacement spoke up to tension and then wheel was true. I have raced on it a few times since and it seems fine, but I do wonder if the spoke breakage was a one-off or if I can now expect a steady stream of broken spokes. Time will tell....|

|have a set of the 2000 K's and recently had a spoke go and the shop fixed it. About a month later the spoke pulls thru the rim and bang the whole thing is toast. The shop( & Mavic I guess) did offer a nice fix by using the hubs and replacing the rest new.
Now I did have these for two years and at least 10K miles, without any problems. The new built up rims ride like new, but be careful as this could be the begining of something to keep an eye on.

|broke a rear spoke after 1200 miles, and had a long walk to a phone booth. His other set has about 15 K miles with no problems. I have never had a problem with mine after 8K. But, I wouldn't buy another set because they can't be ridden if a spoke breaks. I bought a new pair of Velomax circuits (28 spoke rear). I know if one breaks, i can get home. I believe over time as these Zical spokes age, you're going to see a lot more broken. They are build with such hi-tension. One guy had it come through the rim. Fancy wheels, fancy problems. Velomax has a great web site, I won't buy Mavic again.|

|I'd written in my product review that my rear Ksyrium Elite was out of true after hittng a low curb hard at an angle. I tried doing some minimal truing at home, but it wouldn't hold long - took 'em in to my dealer for a major job & he solved my problem. I've hit some potholes since but they seem to hold up just fine. I read that the SSC spokes are prone to breaking, My Elite spokes are steel.|| |
