Shimming a 26.8 seatpost - please helpsparklenuts

hi

I have a 26.8 Thomson seat post and I want to shim it to 27.2. It is a hard shim to find. Any hints on where to find one or a way to fabricate one.

A coke can is only .1mm thick. A .2mm thick shim is needed.

Common aluminum flashing material from Home Depot is .25mm or .010 inch thick. You might be able to use it.

Otherwise, an automotive supply store may have some shim stock. You need something .008 inch thick.

See the following thread. Very Helpful.

P.S. Don't use a soda can. The thin aluminum wears thin and the seatpost will go loose.
