Sidi shoe/SPD cleat compatibility(5 posts)

Sidi shoe/SPD cleat compatibilitywilly2351

Can anyone please tell me whether (1) SPD cleats can easily be mounted on Sidi road shoes; and (2) if so, do SPD cleats work fine with these shoes? Is an adapter plate necessary?

Thanks very much!

The SPD adaptor plate is absolutly necessary as the 3 holes for Look will not line up to SPD.

There seems to be no way to adapt spd's to Sidi road shoes.(Why would anyone want to ??)The literature that came w/mine showed adaptors for spd/r and look.I used the the spd/r adaptors for 1 season and though funtional were VERY heavy & small bolts rusted soon causing 1 head to to strip when I removed them to change to SL's ! Get spd/SL's , look, or time pedals if you're a serious enough rider to purchase Sidi's. You will notice a big difference !

P.S. I just noticed upon looking more closely at a spare set of spd/r adapors that I still have that they DO have an extra side hole that only could be for spd config. Try the width at your LBS - good luck !
Remember: by doing this you will make your wonderfully light Sidi's heavier than than cheapest, worst road shoes you can find, and they will be imbalanced by the extra weight in the front from the heavy adaptor plate. Careful, the threads on the plate are weak !
The system sucks !
