Converting downtube shifters to STI levers ????kjato

I have a 7 speed down tube set up, and a 7 speed shift lever and all the Cables and such. do I need any other parts

Whenever I've bought a new set of STI levers, they always included a pair of cable stops that replace the down tube levers.

It's never been an issue with me, but I'm told that you need a relatively new front derailleur to work with the STI levers.

Actually they're easier to find now than they used to be, because STI requires them. If your shop doesn't have them, though, you can get them from Rivendell, www.rivbike.com
