|I just tried myself with a 12t first cog. the 11t lockring barely touched to cog. there was still play in the cassette when I snugged it down.|
|I used a Zipp hub, btw||weiwentg|

|I tried. The 11 tooth lockring did not engage the inner area of the 13 tooth first position cog. The cogs were loose as a result. I think a 12 and 13 are the same.
|I alternate between 11 and 12 all the time, no prob. (nm)||TJeanloz|

branford bike says about lockrings for both 9 and 10 speed cassettes
One with a 38.5 mm flange for cassettes that start with a 12 tooth or larger cog.
Another with a 35.2 mm flange that is for cassettes with an 11 tooth first position cog. These lockrings are NOT interchangeable! You must match the flange size to your first position cassette cog.
maybe (maybe!) you can use the 11 tooth lockring on 12 and greater, but definitely not the 12 or greater lockring with an 11 tooth start size?

|I have all three first position cogs, 11, 12, and 13. I have tried everything.
The 11 lockring with work with the 11 cog and 12 cog, but not the 13 cog.
The 12 lockring with work with the 12 cog and 13 cog, but not the 11 cog. (It rubs the chain on the 11 cog.)
The 13 cog uses a 12 lockring.

|I have an 11-23 10sp and I want to go to a 12-25 10sp.
I can use the lockring on my 11-23? Right?
Thanks in advance.

|Bottom line, you can use any lockring (small or large) with a first position 12 cog, as on the 12-25.
I assume your 11-23 is using the small lockring, because you cannot use a large lockring on the 11-23.

|Guess I have to buy a 12t lockring then, eh? When will the expenses end? Damned Euro!|
