My Litespeed Sirius has a full Campag Centaur gruppo on it.

Over the last few hundred miles (bike has done about 1500 miles since new) the brakes make a loud scraping noise when they are applied. The obvious source would be grit embedded in the pads, but I have checked them and they are fine, and there are no grooves on the rims.

Cleaning the rims and pads thoroughly does help a bit, but they are still noisy.

Any ideas??
Junk in the pads, look againKerry

Try roughing up the pad surfaces with sand paper or a wire brush. You may not be able to see it, but I'm guessing you still have some junk imbedded in the pads. You may not be able to see it, but that is the most likely source of the noise.

on salmon colored KoolStop brake pads. A vast improvement over stock pads. Or try the Ritchey pads, my first choice is KoolStops.
