Shimano Shark Fin chain stay protector...(3 posts)

Shimano Shark Fin chain stay protector...Macho Man Savage
May 27, 2003 9:51 AM
What's the deal with these things? I just got one for free and wondered if it's worth putting on. I HAVE been getting the odd nick on my lovely Prodigy but what's with that fin thing? Are these made for road bikes? Is the fin supposed to stick straight up? Are they easy to get off once they're on?

IIRC, they're for MTB's. The one I had said Shimano XT on it. If you're a slave to fashion - don't put it on your road bike. Use a clear mylar, faux carbon, or contrasting\matching color chainstay protector for your Prodigy. How's the Prodigy ride? They look like nice bikes to me.

The prodigy rides like a dream... wonderful, wonderful ride. Love the geometry, the simplicity... steel is real.
