|Shimano freehub wheelset conversion kit for Campy 10sp?||shrEd|

|Has anyone ever used one of those conversion kits that allow the use of a Shimano freehub wheelset on a Campy component bike.
I'm building up a Colnago and I'd like to use Campy, but my 2002 Mavic Cosmic Carbones are Shimano capable. I think these aftermarket kits sell a modified Shimano cassette that can be shifted by Campy. Any information on this is greatly appreciated.

|I use the Wheels Manufacturing kit to convert a 8s Campy to 9s. It works fine. Some of my friends are using Shimano 9s wheels with Campy shifters. The secret seems to be to align the derailler on the middle cog. The Shimano cassette is a little narrower than Campy, so you can align the smallest and largest cogs perfectly with the upper and lower limit screws on the rear derailler. There's about a 5% difference in spacing, so no cog is ever more than 15% oot of alignment. Wheels also has respaced cassettes. You can get all that at www.branfordbike.com.|

|I am using the American Classic canversion cassette on my American Classic 420 wheels with Campy 10 shifting. It works fine. In fact I have an extra cassette if you need one. It's an 11-23, but if you need to try one let me know.
The only thing American Classic states is that you can't use the cassette with the Campy Permalink Chain Pin. You will have to use the newer Campy pin or a Connex link. Check amclassic.com to see what compatibility issues they have. I think it doesn't work with certain Mavic Cassettes too.

|I hate mine so much I was about to post about it to let everyone know how terrible they are. I have an American Classic 10 speed "conversion cassette" connected to a Mavic Ksyrium SSC wheel that I use for training (record Ti/mavic k sl for racing). The thing is just terrible. I constantly adjust it, work great with you're light on the pedals, but if you TRY to do even a tiny sprint, you'll hear a loud "PLINK!", and you'll look down to see if the chain broke. I'm gonna try to change the freehub unit to campy, and get a normal cassette. Maybe you can do that with your wheel? Don't get the conversion cassette!|

The above link it to a cassette I have for sale on this site. It's a wheels Manufacturing 11-211 that I paid $129 for and only rode 40 miles. It shifted great, I decided I just wanted Campy wheels on my bike too.
