|Tire size- 700X19 too small for road use?||JAGYB|

|Anybody using 700X19's for general road riding? I know most people use 700X21 and that the 19's are more for track use but I've been using the 19's for awhile on the road and no problem. I like the 19's because they fit the width of the wheels better than the wider ones from an aero standpoint.|

|Generally, that's too small. Most people use 23s. I used to use 19/20s, and got pinchflats all the time, and that's riding on relatively good roads and I weigh around 160.
19s are for specialty use -- time trials, maybe a climbing race, or if you are maybe under 120 pounds.
You may get away with it, but your odds (and comfort) would improve with wider tires. You'll not lose much in aero drag, and besides, are you time trialing with them?

|My lovely wife rides on 650s, Continental 19s. Of course, she only weighs 101 lbs. Has worked fine for her at 125 psi. Other than that, I agree with Mr. Sloan.|

|Unless you are 130 pounds, stick with a 23 in back. I've used 20's in front for a long time, without any problems.|

|I used 20's front and 23's rear for a year now. Great combination in my opinion.|

|I've had no problems using them for everyday riding. I weigh 140 pounds.|

|Just had this discussion with former Coors Lite team rider & U.S. Pro Champ Greg Oravetz. He recommended them for hill climb racing wheels to me, said nothing about as an all around tire, but for our local hill climb here on Maui, I'd consider them.|| |
