Help with stem diameter size!Crashedagain

My qeustion concerns size compatibility with a MTB Ritchy WCS stem at 25.4mm diameter to a Salsa Road Team bar at 26.00mm. I am trying this for dialing in length and rise for the road bike and wondering ( well seriously worried ) about failure because of incompatibility. On all four bolts ther are about two theads showing between the face plate and stem. I weigh 175 and will torque the bars on short steep climbs.
Any input would be great.

Thanks,
Chris

Open-face stems are quite forgiving when it comes to minor mismatches in diameter. 25.8 and 26.0 can be used interchangeably.

The 25.4 is another story. The mismatch is large enough to pinch the bars at the edges of the face plate and stem (near the gap in the middle). The solution is to file a 45 degree chamfer about 1-1.5mm wide along all four edges to eliminate the pinch point. The larger bar will only cause the stem bolts to be threaded in a little more than 1/2 turn less than normal. Anything more than 4 full turns of thread engagement provides all the the strength that you can get from any thread.
