Campy 8 spd bent Omicron rim - options?capecodsteve

Finally bent the rear rim on my 7 year old GT Edge with Campy Veloce stuff on it. Any advice would be great!
I guess my options are to-
1. re-lace a new rim on it - would like the rear to match the front but Omicron rims are no longer available
2. upgrade from 8 speed to 9 speed - can't afford it right now
3. buy a new 9 spd wheel and an adapter - too expensive
4. find a used wheel....watching ebay...anybody have any other sources you'd suggest??
5. ??

You might be able to find an Omicron rim, but seeing as they're vintage, the price might be outrageous. Watch shipping, too, since that can be high for oversized boxes.
Another option is to find the ERD of the Omicron rim, in something like Spokecalc, then look for a rim with the same diameter. Then you could just swap the spokes over. Of course, the spokes are 7 years old, too, so it might be time for new ones. Spokes are cheap, though.
Third option is to look for an 8 speed wheel. They're out there, and you can probably pick one up for small $. Ebay does require some patience, though, so be prepared to wait.

Hey Steve,

I have to admit that I do not know the rim that you are trying to replace, however, I just upgraded from Chorus 8 to Record 9 and am selling my Chorus 8 with mavic reflex clinchers. Front and rear are in great shape. Let me know if this will help you. Best Rocco
