Could someone tell me the benefits of putting a carbon fork on my bike? I mentioned to a friend I was going to change my handlebars out, and now he's trying to essentially rebuild my bike. Right now he is insisting I NEED a carbon fork. I haven't got a clue when it come to this stuff....

Depends on what's on it now. Aluminum forks weren't great riding,as was some low end steel.Nothing wrong with better steel forks except a bit of weight. Some beleive CF is a magic bullet, and others don't buy it. An all CF for, light stem and bars could save significant weight if that means enough to you to spend the money.A CF fork with aluminum crown and steel or alloy steerer doesn't save alot of weight.
