|Can I pair-up an Easton Carbon bar (31.8) with a Deda Newton stem (31.7) or is that .1mm going to cause catastrophic failure?|

|I have an EC90 (oversize) with a Deda magic. Not sure if the magic is 0.1mm different or not. Works great for the 2 months I've been using it. I doubt you'll have an issue; that tolerance seems insignificant IMHO.|

|The open-face stem design is quite forgiving when it comes to minor variations in diameter. 31.8 and 31.7mm nominal sized bars and stems can be mixed without a problem.|

|thanks guys...The bend of the Newton bars feel just too awkward for me so I'm going to go ahead and make the switch.|
|I'm using that exact combination.||fallzboater|

|Works fine, no problems. I don't have a torque wrench, just tightened the bolts evenly by feel, and just past tight enough that I can't twist the bars in the stem by yanking on them.
I'm guessing the standard is really 1.25 inches. Try multiplying 1.25" by 25.4 mm/inch.
