|that price sounds reasonable. I had a '94 Epic with 105 that I sold 3 years ago for $450. I would guess that a new Epic with 600 at that time cost $1400-1500. I was pretty happy with my Epic - fairly compliant ride and quick steering. Of course its not a great deal if the bike is not your size. Good luck|

|I bought one identical to the one you describe in 1996 for $375. The aluminum lug at the seatpost/top tube intersection eventually broke at the binder bolt hole. Lifetime waranty IF you're the original owner. I wasn't.
Personally I would look for a more durable frame and go with STI shifters. If you can afford to be patient, you'll find some very good deals out there.
|They all come unglued, mine did, that's why it's cheap. (nm)||Cat 3 boy|

|I bought a 1994 few months ago for $500. It had never been ridden. I did some research on the frame and found that long term durability does not seem to be a problem, but I probally would not have bought it if it had been ridden alot. I am not sure where the guy that says it comes unglued gets his info, but I would like to know. I like the ride alot.|

|The old SPecialized carbon frames were notorius for coming apart. Not all of them did, if yours stays in one piece you've got a nice frame. I bought a '92 Epic Comp (first yaer for Ultegra STI) new in 1993. Still have it after some 25,000 miles. It's not my main ride now, but I do still ride it occasionally, still a good frame after 10 years of abuse.|

|I was pleased with the frame for 2 years, only rode it on dry days, then everytime I stood on the pedals there'd be a clunk from the rear end......took it to my lbs, put it in a workstand, removed the back wheel..and the chain stays could be pulled off by hand! They were held in place by me "press fitting" them into place with every pedal rev.
On the plus side, Specialized UK gave me a new M2 pro frame (this was 1997) very quickly with no fuss.
So, it's a nice frame, just pay attention to the bonds.
