Silver Ergobrain Has Anyone Tried to Use it with a triple?Helduser

I'm looking to upgrade to a record triple? I've heard from Campy that the older ergobrain can be set up for the old 9's drivetrain with a triple but to handle the new 10's drivetrain you have to go to the latest Ergobrain ie shell out another 140 bucks. Sounds very microsoftish if you ask me.

Has anyone tried to use the silver ergobrain with a 10's triple and just configure it as if it were a 9's setup? Does it work fairly well?

Thanks,
Mike

When you are programming the silver ergobrain head, if you choose (3) for front chainrings, it will default to a 9 speed cogset. It will not let you program in 3 front rings and a 10 speed cogset. To use the silver with a triple, you will have to give up the inner chainring reading on the triple crank.
It is true, the silver head will not work completely correct with a 3x10. It will work, but only shows two rings in the front.
