Help - Squeaky Cane Creek Headset(3 posts)

Help - Squeaky Cane Creek HeadsetTNSquared

My new Trek came with the Cane Creek IS headset - an integrated design with no bearing cups. The bearing cartridges interface directly with the headtube.

After about 300 miles, I noticed a pronounced squeak from the bottom of the headset with every turn of the bar. I was able to eliminate the noise by pulling the fork partially out and then carefully reinserting to better seat the rubber gaskets.

However, the noise has come back and I can't really figure out the problem. I don't want to keep pulling the fork out every 300 miles. BTW, I've triple checked the headset adjustment and I'm certain it's correct.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced the same problem with this or other Cane Creek headsets and might have a tip.

Had the same problem with my 2300 last year. Somewhere around 1000 miles the noise just went away. Have ridden another 1500 miles w/ no problems.
