Any compatibility issues?? Campy Chorus 9 rear-d w/ 8-speed?Rob in NH

Just bought this rear derailleur out of desparation because the pulley holes on the back plate of my Campy Record 8-speed has been stripped for a few weeks now. Tried finding replacements but thats come up dry.

So will I have any problems with the pulley wheel width, tooth count, or spacing? I've enclosed a pic of the new derailleur.

Thanks all!!
Rob (hopefully happily geared again)

In all their infinite wisdom, guess they didn't think these would hit the spokes:

Their intentions were ok I suppose, and since I couldnt order the back plate separate I guess I needed the new one.

Nice phillipps head look:

It will work as long as it is an "old style" 9 speed rear derailleur and not a "new" 9/10 derailleur.
Do these guys also repair heavy equipment?Kerry

I have never seen such a hatchet job on a bike component. Your LBS mechanic is definitely from the chewing gum and baling wire school, and should not be allowed to work on any high end bikes.
