The deal is this.... My right hand shifter is not working. I am jammed in the 25 cog in the back, I can use the left hand shifter between the 53/39 up front, but the rear is totally in-operable. Of all gears to be stuck in prior to my last major decent of the day! Full Glider....
I'm not much of a Gearhead - Any suggestions?

Yes, take it back to where you bought it and hope that it is less than three years old.
It's not the derailleur, it's the shifterKerry

Try releasing the cable from the derailleur and seeing if you can get the shifter working (try up and down shifts). Check to be sure that the cable has not frayed and jammed in the casing near the shifter. Squirt some lube in the shifter while trying to work it. Check that the brake lever hood is not binding the shifter mechanisms. Take it to a bike shop.

Also check the low adjustment screw on your derailleur. Allow it to swing more towards the wheel. This seems to free up the lever. Its made a big difference with mine.
