ksyrium freehub / cassette tolerance?(3 posts)

ksyrium freehub / cassette tolerance?rockbender

I just swapped cassettes on my K's last nite and noticed that there is a bit of 'slop' between the cassette and the freehub. the tolerance is off enough that I can move the cogs on the freehub a little bit, both up and down and in a rotational movement back and forth. Is this normal?

From somewhere a steel washer/spacer ended up on my bench too. It is sized so that it would go over the freehub, but does not have the alignment grooves like the Shimano spacers. I think it was an extra part that came out of the cassette box (used - given to me)and not off the wheel. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

The spacer will take up the slack on the freehub body. It goes on first. Use it and enjoy the ride.
I must have pulled it off with the old cassette...rockbender

thanks-

It was likely stuck to the bottom of the other cassette when I took it off, and then came off after I picked up the cassette off the bench. Knowing that is definately comforting... I hate finding the 'extra parts' after assembly!
