SLIPPING STEM!!!!!!speedbag
Apr 15, 2003 6:56 PM
I am using a Litespeed 1 1/8" stem with shim on a 1" carbon steer tube. I have no problem getting this setup tight, however after an hour into any ride it comes loose. It's clean, I've tried a 1" stem, I've had at least a half dozen mechanics look at this with no luck. Tonight I'm going to try giving the shim and the steer tube a very light sanding in attemp to give it some tooth. It's been a full year. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

The bolts don't come loose, the stem just slips. Thanks for the advice though.

Is the stem's gap lined up with the shim's gap?

If all else fails ditch the ole stem and get a 1" stem with no shim.I saw in some instructions if the stem as a slot that is offset it should not be used!
Are you sure the bolts aren't bottoming out? (nm)Kerry
