I'm bored.....been riding the same frame for 5 yrs, maybe one day I'll crash it, then I have a great reason to buy a new frameset ;)

So how much difference is there between my old M2 Specialized & that nice DeRosa Merak I reeeelly want??

I had the exact frame, an M2 in a 56. Used it for 5 years before it finally cracked. The frame itself was pretty light, I'll bet it was only about 1500-1600 grams. If you compare frame weight to the Merak, they'll probably be very close. Where they will differ drastically is in the ride. Aluminum frames have come a long way since the M2, so the Merak is going to have a better ride. Much less harsh riding. I have a Bianchi EV2 and a Specialized E5 (warranty for the cracked M2) and they both ride much smoother than the old M2.

Of course, none ride as well as steel.........
