|I put a new tube and tire on my bike last night. When I reached about 80psi, the tube blew. It sounded like a shotgun blast!
It was the right size for the tire, etc. and when I put in a second one it worked fine.
Is it possible that the tube was bad? In ~10 years of riding, I've never had this happen before. I've never used a Michelin tube before, are they generally OK or should I avoid them?

|This situation is almost universally a problem with a section of tube that got caught under the tire bead during the install. As you pumped, the tube inflated outside the tire (your own little pneumatic hernia) and then blew when the pressure got high enough. It didn't happen the 2nd time because you got the tire on right. After mounting a tire, work your way around the wheel while pinching the beads together with your fingers.|| |
