Seatpost - frame creaking(4 posts)

Seatpost - frame creakingacp
Apr 8, 2003 1:44 PM
I have a creak at the juncture of the seatpost (aluminum) and frame (steel). Is there a way to eliminate the noise? It developed recently and the seat post binder screw is tight with no slipping. Changed saddles thinking that may have been where the noise was coming from but it didn't help.

Thanks
How did you verify that the creak wasthe bull

It's not the cranks, the BB or the pedals. It's not the seat. I am 99% sure it is the seatpost/frame. No, I didn't grease it. Should I? Would that make the post slip?
It needs grease.the bull

It should not slip if the bolt is tightened PROPERLY!
If this does not work than come back and tell me what a idiot I am.But you should also have grease in there because it will keep the seatpost from getting stuck after time!
