Tightening TA/Record Chainring Bolts(5 posts)

Tightening TA/Record Chainring BoltsNiemand
Apr 4, 2003 12:17 AM
I have a TA Zephyr chainset with the fifth chainring bolt hidden behind the crankarm, like Campy Record. I put the bolt in 'upside down' with the allen head facing the BB, since I wasn't going to get an allen key behind the crank arm.
The problem is I can't get the thing completely tight, can anyone recommend a chainring bolt tool that will fit behind the crank arm or else another solution?

I don't know what you've got, but Record bolts go in from the back side on the hidden 5th arm. Tightening it is just as easy as the other 4 only you need to be on the left side of the bike. The Record crank also has spacers on the 5th arm that are needed to tighten it all the way. Do you have spacers? If not, that might be your problem. Go to Branford bike, they have the spacers that you need.

Thanks for the info, at least someone understood what I was saying.
From what you say (and looking at the piccies at Branford)it looks as though the Record spacer would be the solution I was looking for. (At the moment I just have a regular chainring bolt in there.)
Cheers.
