Q) Need clarification on a rear cassette problem!wolfereeno

I'm switching over a cassette (Ultegra 9 speed) from a pair of Cosmos to Rolf Vector Pros and have dilema. (I've never done this before)

The splined section of the Rolf hub seems narrower than the Cosmo by the width of around one spacer. The Rolf was advertised as being 9 speed capable. There's one extra spacer that was behind the largest Cog on the Cosmo. There doesn't seem to be room for it on the Rolf. If I leave it off, I can fit all the cogs on and tighten the lock ring down. Everything seems to fit correctly without this spacer. I think I might have to adjust the rear der a little bit though.

But I'm not sure it's safe for me or the wheel to leave off that back spacer ring so I haven't ridden the new wheel yet. In the words of dr zell from the marathon man, "Is it safe?"

Thanks

the spacer you are refering to is supplied as standard with the Cosmos wheels and therefore isn't required for the Rolf's you have.

Hope this helps.

I've had a set of Cosmos wheels, the spaced is part of the Cosmos set up, it's not part of the cassette, and it wouldn't fit on the Rolfs. It's a Mavic thing. Leave it off and ride and be happy.
