Is the headset internal (cups inside headtube) or integrated (bearings sit directly on the inside walls of the headtube)? Thanks!

Bearings are inside the frame recesses and are cartridge style sealed bearings with a beveled shoulder on one side and a beveled bore on the other. THe beveled od aligns the brng with the frame and the beveled bore mates with a bevel on the hs part that is on the steerer tube of the fork.

So there's no metal cup to protect the frame from the bearing? I wonder if the composite will wear significantly from the bearing shifting.

Internal; aluminum (I believe) cups inside the head tube.
Are the cups replaceable? (nm)speedisgood
