V-Brake Lever on Road Caliper?(5 posts)

V-Brake Lever on Road Caliper?toonces

I'm looking for a cheap brake setup for my on-order fixie. I have an old v-brake lever that I don't need and can prolly find a used brake caliper somewhere. So I know the diameter of the clamp will likely be bigger than the bar, but shims will do. Will the actual lever work with the caliper tho? Thanx for the info.

road (and canti) brakes designed around 12mm travel and V-brakes around 22mm. However some levers (Avid, older Shimano, etc) can be switched for higher pull ratio. If you have canti or canti compatible lever it should work fine.

Clamp should work MTB bars are ISO 25.4mm and road bars are Italian 26.0mm

PS as an option you may concider to get cross fork and use V-brakes good luck
