Wheel decision: Protons or Pome Pros with chorus or record..Juanmoretime

hubs. I'm finishing up my first bike built with Campagnolo components. I have Record cranks and bottom bracket with Chorus shifters, brakes and drailluers and now it's time to choose my wheels. Should I go Protons, Chorus hubs with open Pro's or Record with Open Pros?

Thanks.

If racing, I'd say Open Pros with Record. They're good wheels but beware the dreaded OP click. If not racing, then the Protons: they are excellent training wheels as they are relatively light and indestructable.

I don't think the protons are worth the $$, and I don't think the performance will be better than a good handbuilt set. the record hubs save something like TEN GRAMS from record, only disadvantage is the lack of the grease port (if you use it at all). I hear the current generation aeroheads have an asymmetric rear to reduce dish, plus they have no clicking problems, but they also have no eyelets (may be a problem if using alloy nipples). if you want a performance increase over standard wheels, then go all the way up to the Eurus/Neutron level.
