Shimano R540 Wheelset - what's your experience been?kurti

I've put about 500 miles on the new 540's and i'm not too impressed. For the price and everything, yeah they're fine, but i'm having a problem with durability. Is anyone else having any problems? I brought it to the shop and had my rear wheel trued at 200 miles. by 400 miles, it needed truing again (and i don't mean that they are a little out; i mean they have a nice wobble in them and they are out of round, too). I've put THOUSANDS of miles on Mavic rims (Cosmos and CXP33)with a more traditional set up and they have been fine. at this point, i haven't taken them back in to be trued. I'm wondering if anyone else is having a problem, if it's just my set, or if the shop is not doing so hot on truing them. I'm at a crossroads now; i'm considering if i should just true them up one last time and put them on a shelf or try and sell them - or if i should push on the local shop to get them replaced or do a better job of truing them! What have you guys (girls) found when using them?

I had to true my rear wheel at about 100 miles. The front has stayed true for over 500 miles since I bought it. I do like the low spoke count. the wheels actually feel faster than my Cosmo in cross wind. BTW, I weigh at 155lbs.

thanks. I weigh 175lbs. have you had any problems with it staying true since you first had it done?
