|What frame size would you put a 5'11" rider on (31" sleeve length, 32" inseam)?
Specialized makes the Allez Comp in a 54, 55, & 56 cm, and I'm trying to help a friend pick the right size frame for general training and the odd triathalon.
For the tris (only a couple races a year), he is simply going to mount an aero clip-on to his road bars & move the saddle forward.
If anyone has any personal experience with Specializeds in this size range, or knows of rules of thumb about sizing a bike for use with an aero clip-on, I'd appreciate it.
PS: my pal is a swimmer and cycling newby who
1) doesn't want a dedicated tri bike (= death ticket in NYC)
2) doesn't need an ultra-stretched-out riding position for training
3) has a great deal lined up on this particular make and model.

|I got the 03 specialized allez pro 58 cm, and I'm also 5' 11" and 32" inseam. It fits great, I felt to cramped on 56 cm.|

|Some compact frame manufacturers size their bikes using "equivalents" to normal frames sizes. e.g. My Specialized 60cm is really a 55cm. Most size formulas were made for normal bikes so knowing the equivalent can be helpful.
Some manufacturers size their bikes using the real distance from the BB to the end of the seat tube.
