How do you know if the campy shifter spring is broken?gnailuh

I've heard some talk about campy shifter spring being broken, that will affect shifting slightly. I have a chourus 9. When down shifting (moving to bigger cogs) the cassette, it sometimes overshifts to the next gear for a fraction of a second and them drop into the right place. It's a little anoying since it basically downshiften 2 gears for a fraction of a second.

Is this an indication of the broken spring? If so, how easy is it to fix? Where can I get a new spring?

Thanks.

Based on your description of things I would first try loosening the rear der cable 1/4-1/2 turn of the adjuster(cw as you stand behind the bike. If an index spring is broken the shifter will usually not hold the chain onto the largest cog in the rear. You can also check the springs by shifting the chain to the larger cogs in the rear and then pulling gently on the cable between the bb and the cable stop on the downtube. If the der shifts real easy with gentle pressure on the cable the index springs are weak. Check the website http://www.campyonly.com for more details
