Mavic Ceramic rims shimmy when braking(3 posts)

Mavic Ceramic rims shimmy when brakingTimePedal

Looking to find a solution or some advice...I have mavic ceramic rims (less than 250 miles) with mavic ssc calipers. Whenever I brake, the front end shimmys to a stop...the rear brakes fine. I've "toed" in the brake pads on the front, but it still occurs though it is slightly better. Because of this I haven't ridden this wheelset in the hills, i can't imagine having that shimmy going at high speeds....Any suggestions?

I've switched a few wheelsets and it's not the headset or the calipers. I brake fine with the other wheelsets.

1. Check the bearing play in the hub.

2. Try different brake pads, maybe the new Zipps.

3. Check brake caliper bolts; if loose, it could wobble.

4. True the wheel?

5. Maybe those brake calipers are to flexy?

I think the rim might be different thickness in some areas
causing the bike to do weird stuff when you hit the brakes.
Do the brakes seem to grab harder even when you apply the same amount of presure?are you using the correct pads?how about the surface of the rims?
