Does anyone know why Performance is selling Crank Bros. Egg Beaters for $49.98?

I've read nothing but good reviews on them and have never seen them for less than $100. I'm not planning to buy them but am just curious whether there's a particular reason that Performance is unloading them at a bargain basement price.

From what I see in the early spring colorado cyclist catalog, crank bros. issued an updated version 'the egg beater S' . A few grams less 266 grams, fully rebuidable 13 parts. I think they are licencing the older model to Look, with their 4x4 pedal, 294g.
I am only guessing.

the full ti version costs $400 - $300 if you know who to get them from. you can get the next step down for $100 less. that's more than speedplays, and no, they're not worth MSRP.
