wheel rebuild questionroadcyclist

I have some nos Mavic GL330 tubular rims (36 hole). I run Chorus 10 spd. I weigh 145 lbs. Thinking of buiding up the wheels with DT revolutions (14/17/14), 3 cross, aluminum nipples, front & rear. What do you all think of this set-up? I'm NOT racing, just want a light set of tubulars. While I'm at it - I also have NOS Fiamme ergals, should I use those instead?

At 145lbs I would consider some new 28 hole tubular rims like Mavic Reflex. At 145lbs you dont need 36 spokes. Using DT Revolutions you will save 70grams of rotating mass on both wheels nipples accounted for. I wish I could run 28 spokes at 198lbs. I'm going to 32 f/r or 32f/36r 3cross. I figure if your gonna hassle with tubulars might as well go stinkin light. Runing 28 spokes will also reduce your aerodynamic drag a little.

36 hole is a little overkill for you. For an ideal set up, if I weighed 145 Lbs, Mavic GEL 280 28 hole in front, built up 2X with Aluminum nipples. G330 28 hole in back, built up 3X with brass nipples. Veloflex tubulars to finish them off.
