Anybody run Hugi hubs...(8 posts)

Anybody run Hugi hubs...koala
Feb 4, 2003 5:25 PM
Looking to build up everyday wheels that are light and with hubs that will last and are not noisy. Forget Chris King,my Campy hubs are noisier than I like. Hugi markets their hub as quiet.

I have two sets. One is a pre-DT set and it's as loud as any King hub. The new set is very quiet, but they are still relatively new and tight (about 1000 miles) so we'll see! BTW- They are lighter than King hubs too!

Older Hugi's have "gattling Gun" sound effect vs. CK "angry BeeHive" sound. Have new Hugi 240's on one of my cx bikes. Light hub, easy to maintain. Only problem is I had some burrs in the spoke holes (hub body) which caused some broken spokes.
All in all, quite happy.

New Hugis stay pretty quiet if you keep the star ratchets lubed with their special grease... I do mine ~ every 1500 miles.
Thanks all...n.m.koala

I was thinking velocity aerohead, 28 front, 32 rear alloy nips, revo spokes. I have a set of O.P. with chorus hubs and revos. Ride is better than pre built mavics.
