Difficult for small hands to use Left 105 STI leverAsh

Hi all,
just put 105 STI levers on my wife's bike, Kept very old 105 front der. that was used with down tube shifters

She is having a hard time using the lever to go from the small ring to the big ring.

It has new cables/housing.

Do you think that the old front der, has a spring tension that is too hard? Do the newer ones have a lower spring tension that might make it work easier with the STI levers.?

thanks

AA

If she can't push the lever over far enough to make the shift, there's a mismatch between shift lever travel and derailleur lever arm travel.

If she can't overcome spring tension, there's a mismatch between shift lever moment and derailleur spring tension.

I suspect the former, but it really doesn't matter. The only realistic solution is a new 105 front derailleur.
