|Hello, I'm a first time poster, but I've been visiting this site for the past two years and found it extremely informative and entertaining. The question I'd like to ask is, "Is it necessary to install the Outer Cable Guides for the Dura Ace Brake Cables?" My handle bar set up includes the Deda Newton O/S with the Shimano Flight Deck SC-6501. All advice and opinions are welcome.
I have rather small hands and find the grip while riding on the 'tops' with the Outer Cable Guides rather bulky. Thanks.

|just run the cable housing along the inside of the bar( make sure you have enough length) and tape it to the bar with electrical tape. There's a groove on the Newton for the housing.|

|While not required, some riders, myself included, find that installing them will give the front of your bar a slightly more 'ergonomic' feel. Just wrap the bar both ways and see what feels better. With a grooved bar, you can run your flightdeck cables unterneath as well, normally a tight fit.
P.S.: Obviously, this is much easier with non-adhesive bar tape...
