Noisy wheels?(3 posts)

Noisy wheels?Roger H

I was trying out a set of Ksrium Elites on my aluminum DeRosa Planet and almost every bump I hit made a fairly loud aluminum banging type sound. I put my handbuilt Mavic/Open Pro's back on and everyting got quieter. Is there a characteristic of the Kysriums that would cause them to make more noise? Stiffness? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

You may want to check the bearing adjustment. This can be done with the wheels on the bike. The manual goes into pretty good detail, and you should have gotten the tool with your wheels.
I had a similar problem with a set of cosmos.wolfereeno

On mine it seemed there was either a bad weld or burrs near the weld. I located the point by taking off the tire and tapping the wheel systematically. It took a while because even though the sound was from one specific point, the wheel makes it sound like it's coming from everywhere. It might take a lot of trial and error to find your noise.
