The only person paying $800 for that totally overated square spindled circa 1980's crap is a complete and uttere poseur. At least a pro riding it has the excuse of being sponsored and not paying for it. Amateurs buying that latest rippoff rig are bigtime poseur fools. And yes, I'd have no problem telling that to them and their fat butts. Poseurville USA.

who are you talking too? i know it wasn't me since i didn't mention anything about buying the cranks and didn't even make a comment about them. was it to the random stranger who you've never met, who you've never seen, who you'll never meet on the internet? well, if that's the case, it must make you feel really good about yourself to put that person in his/her place.

"And yes, I'd have no problem telling that to them and their fat butts."

wow, and you're tuff too. sooooo punk rock.

for future reference, please detail VERY SPECIFICALLY what is and is not acceptable in you click of a tiny little world. most of us on this board have made it our life mission not to offend you and your very delicate sensibilities. you're about as close to a 17 year-old-girl who's uncomfortable with her newfound breast size and the attention she's getting from boys as i'd ever care to meet.

good day comrad.

wow. am I going to have to put someone on time out? I agree about the price being crazy (it is) and I guess your point about non-splined spindles being "outdated" has some merit. I can only guess that this is the 80's technology you so viciously referred to. I agree, I wouldn't buy them, would take them for free. But calling people names who you have no idea of and most likely could ride circles around you with a cottered crankset is juvenile, and if you spout the splined bb as FAB-O 90's technology you put yourself in the same sort of techno-weenyism you spill such vitriol over. Half the pro peloton still rides square BB's and if the spline (which I do like) was sooooo superior that you couldn't compete without one I'm sure the fine machinists and engineers at Campy would make one (they could even use ISis). Granted racers are paid to ride what gruppo they are sponsored on, but for some reason guys on antiquated, fat ass loved square bbs still for some reason beyond my control make it to the podium. Come to think of it, the power race (Paris Roubaix) was swept by some Fat Ass Belgians riding those no good, piece of shit, bb-crank combos.
So look in the mirror comrade, you have become what you hate.
It's all riding bikes.

Get real. The only guys riding these cranks are true pros who could ride circles around most and a whole bunch of middle aged wannabee poseurs with big wallates who couldn't ride circles around a garbage can if their life depended on it. All their fancy schmancy carbon cranks, carbon seatposts, carbon rear derailleurs, carbon levers, carbon handlebars - all show and a bunch of phoney pretense. Slow up at any race and watch one of these leadweights unload their pretty carbon loaded bike and you know immediately they are not somoene to worry about racewise. Poseurville central, hahahahaha.

I know guys who ride bikes costing less than that crank who could ride circles around 99% of the poseurs and their fancy $800 carbon crank. Peace to you too bro. hahaha

Prerace right after they unload their pretty boy bike off their gas guzzling 40k SUV they drive so they can pretend to other drivers they go offroad. Members of Poseurville Central are so easy to spot. hahaha

Not bad at all, I want it, I need it, must work harder to buy some. Simple. The world economies are in a basic recession. Because every good cyclist has a basic need for it, the demand will increase and so will the price. We will all work harder, production will increase, real GDP will increase as well as income. We will be in a higher tax bracket and pay more tax, our Goverment will have more money to put in the economy, interst rates will fall and the whole things starts over again. Basic Kneynesian Economic Theory.(I am aFat arse pro with economics degree) We all win with higher priced cranks.

Hope our friend the tuff hardcore scorpionking, doesn't take offence, with a pro giving the reasons for high priced cranks. Hope my FAT arse doesn't ride circles around you, The Scorpionking. No, wait, I will be winning with my Carbon stuff while you will be losing on your Steel hardcore bike.

"Don't make enemies on the net,"

I hope for your sake you are joking correct? You internet wannabees take this chatroom stuff far far too seriously. What type of grown man would get upset or think someone is making enemies with someone else because of some chat in an internet forum? Just the fact you think what I stated may be making enemies proves you take this stuff and yourself far too seriously. I laugh my azz off everytime I see some knowledgeable "board regular" talk about trolls and flames, etc... like someone can really bother you or harm you with an internet post???? Only if you let them. You guys all need a good dose of reality and need to stop living in your little alterego internet chatroom worlds.

Making enemies from an internet post, what's the funniest thing I have heard in a while. Nothing but a bunch of emotionally unbalanced chatroom babies if you ask me. hahaha
jesus, chill out dude, no one gives a sh*t nmcollinsc

because i totally missed it. just shut the f*ck up. no one cares what you think about them. if you enjoy beating people with carbon on their bikes then more power to you.

I dont care. why do you have so much hate vested in this subject.

So what are you doing here? (nm)Kerry

or lay off the alcohol. you sound like a 17-year old. if bike components mean enough to someone that they would shell out $800 for a set of cranks, live and let live. it's not your money, anyway.
people have been getting so bent out of shape lately. it's amazing. and this is components, not the general forum.
makes me want to buy themDougSloan

You're the kind of guy who makes me want to run out and buy the $800 things just to piss you off. Anyone who does buy them couldn't give a crap what some peon thinks, either, especially someone who is full of nothing but negativity on an anonymous internet forum. Tell them to their face? Ya, right.

SK.. fyi .. not everybody is a cat 1 racer like you. I would venture to guess that anyone who has been ridding more then a few miles knows its not the plane, but the pilot. How do you know whether someone has taken their SUV offroad? Do you get bent out of shape by Porsche drivers that don't go 150mph on the highway?

I think its pretty cool that Campy and others push the limits with Carbon Fiber. Just like car racing tech being used in every day cars, the R & D put into this eventually trickles down to less expensive groups so us poser cat 1 wannabes can afford it too.

If you were to buy carbon cranks....fracisco
Feb 3, 2003 11:04 AM
If you were going to buy carbon cranks, why not the FSA crankset, and save yourself several hundred's of dollars?

Or does it only have to be Campy?

What is the difference?

SK's whole poseur message could be applied to any club level rider riding Dura Ace as well. (Which up until this year was the only gruppo with his beloved high tech splined BB) he makes fun of internuts yet posts more than anyone else. Once again I say check Yo Self SK you are what you hate. Sorry this response is so late, I was out riding my bike this weekend. Which by the number of your posts you weren't.

by the fact that most of you disappear at around 5 PM EST I forget that most of you are posting from work (shame) on the freezing east coast. I guess that's why you are not riding. I'm out west in 70-80 degree San Diego, don't even need knickers. Forgive my assumptions, and my condolences.
I'm going for a spin by the beach.......

well, since i started this stupid thread, here was the point. Campy Record Carbon now comes in 170. Spinners and shorties rejoice. BFD. threre didn't need to be days worth of flame over this. nothing on my bike is Carbon and nothing will be anytime soon. still, the stuff is pretty, i will admit, and i'd hardly be embarrased to ride it. this whole thread epitomizes the word uptight. geesh. aren't there are things for people to worry themselves over?
