|i'm using a 105 triple crank with a shimano splined 105 bottom bracket(68x118.5)on a commuter bike. i'm thinking about switching cranks. i have a shimano octalink m440 mtb crank. it had been paired with a shimano es-50 bb,(68x113) with the shimano spline.
can i switch cranks and use the m440 with the 105 bottom bracket?
any info would be much appreciated.

|No, Shimano makes two different types of octalink splines. Spline #1 fits all octalink road cranks plus the old XTR with splines.
Spline #2 fits all the other octalink MTN bike cranks.
You'll need to buy another ES-50 bottom bracket.
