I recently received a velocity spartacus wheelset as a gift. Any thoughts on these wheels? I will use them primarily for triathlons.

I have a set of Spartacus wheels that I have been using for the past year. They are bullet proof. They aren't the lightest wheels out there, but they are strong, smooth and good looking. I use mine soley for training and they have never failed me. I weigh 230 LBS and I am hard on wheels.

I agree they are bulletproof but they are heavy. On my gram scale they weigh in nearly 2100 grams with skewers. That's almost a pound more than my dura ace hubs with open pro's. At least 1/2 of that weight is in the rim where it matters.

Did you get the new Spartacus wheels that are now black with bladed spokes? They look pretty cool, I have the original aluminum color with 14g spokes.

I have the original aluminum ones, too.
