|Has anybody had any experience with the new Metawire cables?
Ther are pricey, but they look real nice. Before I purchase, I was looking for feedback.

|Two weeks ago, I installed a set on a friend's bike. The setup is a little bit more time consuming as the housing is actually a string of small bead like pieces. No cutting other than the inner plastic sleeve. A bit cumbersome, nevertheless. Follow the directions very closely and think twice before cutting anything.
The rear brake runs the inner housing sleeve all the way through the rear cable stop into the caliper. The sleeve did not fit through the shifter stops on this litespeed. The result is exposed cable in a system supposedly 'sealed'. Both shifting and breaking work as well as expected.
As for the looks, due to the 'string of pearls' design, the housing coming out of the shifters does not make the typical shimano-double-weave under the bar. Rather, the cables are hanging much lower and look limp compared to the regular housing. The rest of the cables look the same, albeit much shinier. Your pick!!

|Thanks. It doesn't sound too appealing for around $100.00 for shifter & brake cables. Plus I have a Litespeed, so I may have similar problems.|| |
