|F. Derailleur clamp dented my frame...||LinuxDude|

|I just noticed a dent or depression on the seat tube of my CroMo frame, where the FD clamp is held. This freaking clamp, which I bought separately, has a weird shape towards the ends. So, I guess when I was tightening the Allen screw I must have been on the drivetrain side, not seeing the damage I was causing. I definetly had over-tightened the clamp, but I never thought one could cause so much damage. |
So now, I'm wondering if I could do anything to fix the dent or whether the frame would be safe to ride on (although, when I was riding it didn't feel any different)? Do I need to apply any kind of protective coating (on the dented location) to increase the life of the frame?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated.

|The frame will be fine. I have one like this also. As well as a carbon frame that has a depression.
I wouldn't worry about it. It is in a NON STRESS area.
Just make sure the paint is ok. If not, touch it up and you are good too go.

|the seat tube isn't a huge deal. Touch up the paint, keep an eye on it, but it should be fine.|| |
