scratched paint cover-up?ryanryanoceros

So I've got a big ol' scratch on one of my chainstays. I'm more concerned about covering up the exposed metal than about cosmetic perfection. I heard somewhere that nail polish was a safe fix. Can someone confirm this before I do something stupid?
clear nail polish will work..DINOSAUR

Nail polish will work. I tried matching the paint on my frame but it would not adhere as I have a clear coat. You can also buy tape that is specifically made for chain stays. On my old bike I just used electrical tape that matches the paint job.
Model paint works, tooretro

You can match almost any color in nail polish if you go to a big drugstore near a junior high school, and that works fine. Also, Testor's model paint (hobby stores & some supermarkets) is cheap, tough and comes in a range of colors. The couple of dozen colors you see in most places is only a fraction of what they really make.
Also, car touch up paint.Kerry

Available in so many colors you can't imagine at any car parts store.
Also, color nail polish. And fun to buy for you boys too (nm)micha
