|Are they realy noticeable diffrences in shifting smoothness/efficency between these two drive trains.|

|Generaly I'd say no. Some times I do feel that the 9sp shifts better.|

|I have 2 bikes that are Record 10; 3 more are Record 9. My two race bikes have the current carbon ergos and rear derailleur, one older bike, now relegated to the indoor trainer, has the earlier model ergos and derailleur. All 5 bikes shift the same as far as I can tell.
The 10's are on my "riding" bikes. I run 9 on the racers because in a pinch I can grab a neutral support Shimano wheel. Can't do that with a 10 speed.
There are reasons for 10 speed to exist - namely, that 1 extra cog - but I don't think improved shifting is a factor.
