1. I need some advice with swapping my Sora triple crank into an Ultegra Double crank. I know that I'll need the 68x109mm Ultegra BB to go with the crank, however this will screw up the spacing with my Sora triple front derailleur(different spindle length). I think that i can solve this by also swapping my triple front der. into a double front der. to go with the double crank.

Question: Am I right with my assumptions so far?

2. Also about my left side Sora triple shifter, - it should work with a double front derailleur, right? I think the detents(or clicks) spacing is determined by the front deraileur and the left shifter is merely a mechanism to move the front derailleur - am I correct in this guess?

Question: will my Left side -Sora triple shifter work with a double front derailleur?
any advice would definitely help - thanks!

1. Yes
2. I believe your Sora shifter should work. I know that Ultegra and 105 shifters are both dual and triple compatible. But I think the detents are contained within the shifters and not the fd.

Just set the limit screws on the FD and ignore the spare shifting at the bars.

thank you both for your assistance. I'll go ahead and try it anyway. If it doesn't work I can always upgrade the necessary equipment to make it work. Cheers! :)
